Nyack River Rowing Fundraiser

I just returned from an exhilerating morning of indoor rowing at the Nyack Center which hosted the annual Nyack River Rowing Competition as a fundraiser to benefit the Nyack Center.

The Nyack Center was all a buzz with about 20 teams and rowing machines, loud music to keep everyone pumped up, and tons of supporters to cheer on their teams.

Each team consisted of 5-7 rowers and we took turns, rowing about 5-10 minutes each for 2 hours. I was on Team Kathy with 5 other women, friends and neighbors, none of us serious rowers, but we sure had alot of fun. Other teams consisted of Nyack High School students, and other young people who are on the rowing team, members of the Nyack Rotary, the Nyack YMCA, and Nyack residents who came out to support this valuable River Rowing program and the valuable resource of the Nyack Center.

It was a fun surprise for me to be rowing next to Team Grandma which consisted of Eric, Andrea, and their moms and sister. I sold a house in Nyack to Eric and Andrea 2 years ago and they immediately became involved in the community and the rowing program. Now instead of looking at homes together we were rowing and competing next to each other and having alot of laughs!

I'll look forward to next year's fundraiser and encourage anyone of all ages who likes to row to join Nyack River Rowing, after all we're located on the Hudson River, it doesn't get better than that!
