Nyack Natve At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

The whole family made a trip into the city to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. First I must say that I  was shocked that the little metal buttons that you always received as a sign that you paid are no longer. They have been replaced with paper labels with adhesive backings. Why this change was necessary is beyond me. My youngest daughter has been collecting these metal entrance tags for years. Maybe they will be a collectors item at some point. We saw several shows and they were all wonderful. The Balthus paintings were interesting, but have come under a lot of criticism this year for his depiction of young adolescent girls. We enjoyed a lovely photography show of the mundane , and we stopped by an exhibtion of early 20th century Amercan art which included several canvases of Nyack native Edward Hopper. We stopped by the American cafe for cookies and coffee which is in a large room filled with incredible art and light and looks out over Central Park-a real treat.  We all felt spiritually refreshed on the drive back to Nyack after our visit to the Met.
