Nyack Chili Beans Or NO Beans

As the arctic vortex squeezes Rockland in its icy grip, my refuge is often a steaming bowl of spicy chili. Which then begs the question; Beans or No Beans?  Texans, from the birthplace of chili, often cry NO BEANS! Yankees say chili without beans is just a condiment to put on a hotdog..Imagine!!! I love my chili recipe, and make it with beans. Please not the Goya canned jellied pseudo-bean wannabes, but real, soaked overnight red kidney beans. What’s your thought on this?
Chili comes from chili-con-carne, meat with chili peppers. I guess if the original chef had wanted beans he would have called it chili-con-frijoles. The International Chili Society (who knew) defines chili as a combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA, which are strictly forbidden. Of course there is the flatulence often associated with good chili.
Beans, Beans, good for your heart
The more you eat the more you fart
The more you fart the better you feel
So, eat beans at every meal.

I’ll let Sheldon sum up this argument…
