No power in New City

First Irene, now this??  A snow day on Halloween?  What is going on?  I've lived in New City my whole life, and I cannot ever remember having extended power outages,  much less 2 in just a few months.  At least I can put the milk on the deck in the snow to keep it fresh.  I am trying to remain optimistic, but for those who don't have a fireplace or friends with power, this is a scary few days (no Halloween pun intended).  If you do have power, please check on those you know that don't.  Especially if you know of others that maybe sick or elderly.  It isn't too bad when there is day light, but gets cold and boring when it is night time.  So, for those who are lucky and have power, invite those over for dinner who are not as lucky.  Happy Halloween.

Great blog Kacy! Central Nyack was out for 3 days after Irene and "only" 44 hours with the Halloween storm. The lack of preparation, lack of communication, and lack of action on the part of our utility companies is deplorable. Too bad they are all monopolies and we have no alternatives to switch to. They all need a good dose of competition - then you could watch a fight for providing the best customer service possible instead of the service that we get.
