I don't know about you, but the mere thought of being in a corn maze gives me an anxiety attack! But, for those who are interested, there are a couple mazes within an hour drive of Nyack. They are:
News From Nyack Park Nyack NY
Dated: July 29 2015
This just in from Nyack Park tonight- Tuesday July 28th, 2015.
The music was wild down at Nyack Park tonight as Mistress of Ceremony Yvette Mclarty got the crowd pumped and primed and pumped again in her own inimitable fashion. There were well over 300 people enjoying the hot summer evening and the even hotter live music from We Are MTO- Steve Bernstein's Millenial Territory Orchestra with all of the music arranged and conducted by Steven Bernstein,- we are talking trumpet and sweet and sexy slide trumpet, trombone, rocking out violin, clear as a bell clarinet- singing right to your heart and tenor saxophone, baritone and soprano saxophone- Nyack's very own Eric Lawrence played his heart out- as he always does, giving the crowd way more than the 200 percent he usually gives. Great guitar playing all around, bad ass bass, and some drumming which could not only get you up dancing, but drop you to your knees as well!. People enjoyed their homemade pick-me-up dinners on the great lawn while the kids ran around like little nuts until they played themselves out and finally settled down. I really enjoyed the whole scene- kind of a throwback night, the music was really hot and sultry, New Orleans Jazz/ Big Band Swing and something else altogether unique rolled into an astonishing sound and style quite unmatched by anything else I have heard for a long time. It just might be the closest I could get to New Orleans without actually being there!
The evening eventually cooled off, sooner rather than later as we were all, of course, right at the Hudson River catching whatever breezes might spring up. The dusk grew duskier and the night became ever darker and more mysterious as the (almost full) moon rose up most elegantly over the pitch dark Hudson. All in all, it was a spectacular night. I will take a walk down there next Tuesday night with my folding chair, a cool beverage- something lemony, slightly astringent and not too sweet- maybe with a sprig or two of mint!- Oh, maybe a lovely cold drink from the Art Café- that would be perfect... and just let the evening unfold and wash over me... and see what the fat cats will drag in- More great music, moonlight and you too.
