The quaint village of Nyack may be known for its antiques, restaurants, and interesting shops, however, on Saturday, February 1st, Nyack will become the Village With A Heart.  In conjunction with Heart Disease Awareness Month, participating merchants will be donating $1 to the American Heart Association with every purchase made.

Produced by P. Ross Boutique and the Pour House, and sponsored by Dr. Dwayne M. Bodie, DMD, Spice of India, Columbia Doctors of the Hudson Valley, and Koblins Pharmacy, this will be an all day event with restaurants offering "specials for your heart throbs", and pubs offering heart healthy drinks, lunches, and dinners.  To find participating merchants, look for a red light symbolizing a healthy heart in their windows.
According to the Center for Disease Control, every year approximately 715,000 Americans suffer a heart attack, and roughly 600,000 people die each year from heart disease in the United States.  Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women.
Nyack is inviting us to have a heart, so let's try to get out there on February 1st to help with this important cause.
