NYACK FACING A COLDER WINTER THIS YEAR
Dated: November 4 2016
Winter 2016-17 may be colder in Nyack according to a report released by The Weather Company,
New York may see a cooler-than-average December-February, while the rest of the Lower 48 states could experience yet another mild winter temperature-wise, said Dr. Todd Crawford, chief meteorologist with The Weather Company.
Any colder-than-average air in the East should not linger as there are not the atmospheric blocking conditions over Greenland this year that has led to stalling arctic fronts over the Eastern seaboard in past years.
Winter 2015-2016 was the Lower 48's warmest December-February period in 121 years according to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information.
Of course, none of this necessarily implies a winter without nasty and dangerous storms.
Despite last winter’s notably warm weather, January 22, 2016 saw Winter Storm Jonas dump a record 27 inches of snow on Central Park and our lovely village of Nyack.
