Matthews Baier Concert Tonight in Nyack

Matthews Baier, Nyack's own local prolific composer and guitarist extraordinaire will be presenting a most unusual and beautiful program of songs based on selected ancient texts of Buddhism,Judaism,Christianity, Sufi Islamism and Hindu texts,
The performances are by
Sopranos; Marigene Kettler and Melissa Alexander, Baritone; Russ Ashley and Evan Matthews. Instrumentalists are, Pianist; Stephen Rapp. Oboeist; Jennifer Graham. Flutist; Jacquelyn Drechsler. Violinist; Christopher Cardona. Percussionists; Ben Carriel and Matt Dow. Guitarist; Matthews Baier.
In the past, Mr. Baier has set to music many of Shakespeares's Sonnets, and the works of other writers and poets known and unknown, composing for woodwind quintet, string quartets, percussion duos and other chamber style groupings of various other instruments and range of voices. He seems to compose with many of these particular performers in mind. They are all his muses.
This Saturday nights concert- YES TONIGHT!!! will be a very special once in a lifetime event. It will be at The First Reformed Church , on the corner of Burd Street and South Broadway in Nyack at 8 PM sharp. I'll be there (a little early to get a good seat) - dressed up for the glamorous evening- in black of course- and I hope you will be able to attend what promises to be a rather remarkable concert right in downtown Nyack.This concert is made possible, in part, with funds from the Individual Artist Grants Program of The Arts Council of Rockland and The Decentralization Program of the State of New York Council on the Arts.
