Selling your home during the holiday season is filled with many pros and cons.

Some agents say, “the buyers are serious”. Others may say, “enjoy the holidays and take your home off market between Thanksgiving and New Years.”

Reasons you may not want to list during the holidays..

Some buyers may feel you are desperate

It is inconvenient, you may be hosting parties, cooking, etc. and keeping the home ready-to-show may be difficult

Less potential buyers are looking at this time

It is very difficult to close a financed deal in December; many parties are unavailable and everything slows down

In January your listing will be a new fresh listing

Of course, if you must list your home…

                Scale back on the decorations

Remember holiday decorations are personal to your beliefs

By not decorating your home it will appear more spacious and buyers can imagine their own furniture making it more personal to them

More splashes of red rather than green since red is more emotionally appealing

Simmer some spicy apple cider on the stove

    Don’t leave candles burning
