Learning About Brining A Turkey In Nyack

I normally do not cook the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, but this year I have company from out of state visiting for the holiday and I will be preparing the majority of the meal.

Everyone is talking about brining their turkey so I decided to do some research.  I had NO idea how many different ways there are to brine a turkey! 
The discussions I have had with various people have centered around the brine recipe itself, what vessel to use to hold the turkey and brine while it is in process (large plastic bag, cooler, 5-gallon bucket with lid), where to keep the vessel while the brining process is going on (patio, deck, refrigerator, garage), whether to use a savory brine or an herb brine, a fruit-infused brine or whatever other kind of brine you might possibly want.  
In the end, I went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond and bought the turkey brine kit that comes with a fail-proof brine mix, a large plastic bag in which to brine the turkey, and step-by-step (hopefully idiot-proof) instructions.  We'll see and hope for the best!
