It looks like it's becoming an annual event! Last year’s freak snowstorm around Halloween left millions without power. This year we're watching a major storm system expected this weekend or early next week. Hurricane Sandy is expected to move up the East coast with heavy rainfall, high winds and coastal flooding. O & R storm coordinators are planning work schedules to be prepared for the first sign of storm related damage.

O & R is advising residents to report downed wires and emergency situations by calling 877-434-4100 or your local police department. As always stay clear of any downed wires and anything they come in contact with. Do not approach downed trees and do not attempt rescue until the proper authorities arrive, they are trained professionals, Stock up on non-perishable food and water as well as emergency supplies such as flashlights, batteries, first aid kits and fully charged cell phones. Be sure you have at least one half tank of gas in your car, and have some extra cash on hand in case ATM machines are not functioning, don't forget report any power outages and listen to your radio for storm updates.

O&R's headquarters is located at One Blue Hill Plaza, Pearl River, NY 10965
