Hudson at Haymount House

Sunday night I had a great dinner at Hudson at Haymount House in Briarcliff Manor, NY. I went with a good friend as a lead-in to last night’s long awaited season 3 premiere of Downton Abbey. This estate-turned restaurant was built in 1910 and has spectacular views of the Hudson River.  As the sun set in its brilliance, it gently lit the dining room and added to the overall ambiance that speaks of olden manor-homes.   They specialize in farm-to-table dining and the meal was superb.  We began with a perfectly served cocktail at the bar, followed by the attentive wait staff leading us to a lovely table near the glorious marble fireplace.  Everywhere you look, this wonderful home speaks to you of the grand times that must have been celebrated here in the past. The food was wonderful as well as the service.  After dinner the manager graciously took us on a special tour of the home.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for your next special dinner or just a night out on the town. Located only a few minutes from The Tappan Zee Bridge, you won’t be disappointed. Oh and Downton Abbey’s premiere was well worth the wait!
