Hi-Tor Animal Shelter in Pomona, NY is Rockland County's only animal shelter. They receive many animals every day, including rabbits, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc. Due to a recent feline population explosion they have "received 32 cats and kittens in the last few days, bringing our total count to an extremely high level" per Sharon Needelman, Second Vice President of Hi Tor's Board of Directors. This situation has brought the shelter to an over-full-capacity situation with cats. Hi Tor is looking for responsible individuals or families that want to provide temporary foster care or adopt these loving pets. Per Ms. Needelman, all of the shelter's cats are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Whether you live in Pomona, Palisades, Nyack, Blauvelt, Suffern, or any other part of Rockland County, the shelter is only 15 minutes from your home. The caring staff will be happy to work with you. If you can foster or adopt a cat or kitten, please contact Hi Tor Animal Shelter 845-354-7900 or visit them at 65 Firemens Memorial Drive, Pomona, NY. Their website is HiTor.org. As always, there will be a selection of wonderful dogs and other animals waiting for adoption too.
