Have You Tried Stony Points New ALDIs Market

ALDI’s shopping turns out to be interesting right from the start. If you want to cart, you have to put a quarter into a slot to release it. You get it back when you return the cart, and the store is able to save on employment costs.

ALDI(Albrecht Discounts) is a discount grocery chain that started in Germany in 1948. The company stocks mostly all house-brand products, all offered at low prices thanks to exclusive deals with their suppliers, many of which are big-name producers. They feature their own natural and gluten-free products, and brag about their promise of NO synthetic colors, trans fats, or added MSG. The downside is that there are limited product lines, but there are some interesting European brands, and it’s worth a try!

ALDI has approximately 5,000 stores worldwide, (about 1500 of them in the US) and they’re opening approximately 80 new stores every year. Trader Joe's, probably better-known to Americans, has actually been owned by Albrecht Discounts since 1979. Based in Southern California, TJ projects a more upscale image and brand lines, but their business model is based on the ALDI rulebook.
