Gypsy donut and espresso bar coming to Nyack

Artisanal donuts!  Fair trade excellent coffee!  Believers in recycling, composting and taking care of our beloved planet!  Community minded!  Interested in contributions from the locals!  Even organic milk!  Sounds like a recipe for success in Nyack.

Being a foodie myself, I love anything that tastes great.  My favorite donuts are Stan's from the San Jose, CA area (their buttermilk bars will make anyone understand the phrase too die for and a powdered donut from Victoria's Pastries in North Beach, San Francisco.

Having never understood the Krispy Creme frenzy, I've looked for yummy donuts all over.  None have lived up to my childhood favorites.  In recent years, I've tried jelly-stuffed donuts from Bouchon's, Baltazar's cake donuts with topping, and even Sullivan St Bakery donuts.  There was even Pies n Thighs in Brooklyn. But I have to say there is a void in creative donuts here in Rockland.  I have to say Dunkin Donuts does not cut it.  I've recently considered having Stan's donuts shipped to NY.  It's always best to have the best.

But alas, I may not need to have them shipped.  Sometime this Spring, Gypsy donut and espresso bar is going to open in Nyack --right in the old Gracie Ravioli's space and prior to that it was Donna Hudson's eaterie (my favorite salad for lunch-- oh so long ago -- and how I do wish I could have it for lunch again) --- on Franklin St a little north of Main St.

Oh, how I hope these yummy fried treats come soon!  But then what to make of my diet!  Don't worry -- I can always spend my extra points (I love Weight Watchers) on one donut a week....so Gyspy donut please make them special!  I can't wait.
