Goldfish Sleeping With The Fish In Tappan

One sign that it's been a long and hard winter- the four goldfish that have been in my small fish pond did not make it.  Some years ago, I started with koi, and after several false starts- they all died- I switched to the lowly goldfish.  I think I got about ten for a dollar fifty, and threw them in the pond.  The problem with the pond is that it is too small and too shallow to keep fish alive through a hard winter.  I tried a pond heater, and managed to cook a previous bunch by keeping it on too long.  Since then I have been letting nature take its course, which worked well until this year.  I guess I'll drain and refill the pond when the weather gets warmer, and then go to the pet shop and spend another buck fifty.
