Giving Thanks In Nyack

2013 has not been one of my favorite years so far, but I still have much to be thankful for.

I'm thankful for a loving, wonderful Mother who made such a huge and positive impact on my life. She gave me love, encouragement, support, taught me discipline, and a love of music.  Since she left this earth in February this year, those lessons continue on and I am thankful that she was my Mom for so long.  I'm also very appreciative of her unswerving loyalty and undying love.
I'm thankful for friends, family, and colleagues who have been there and who continue to offer their support, love, help, and comfort.
Most of all, I'm grateful that I had 10 and a half years of pure love from my recently departed Chocolate Lab, TJ.  I miss his barging into wherever I happened to be, doing whatever I happened to be doing (if you have a dog or dogs, you know what I mean. He never did figure out that there is no magic escape door from the bathroom!)  I miss his very strong, constantly wagging tail knocking things off the coffee table. I miss his adoring greeting whenever I would come home. I miss the fact that he was ALWAYS laying between me and the front door, offering his very own form of protection. I miss watching his pure delight cavorting in the snow - whether it was just flurries or a large accumulation. I miss lobbing tennis balls for hours at a time for him to retrieve. For all this and so much more, I give thanks that he came into my life as a rescue in April 2003. I know that my other Chocolate Lab, Godiva, is missing him terribly, too. But I'm sure she is also thankful for all the fun they had together all those years.
'Tis the season to be thankful and we all can find something for which to give thanks this week and every other week throughout the year. Gratitude is in your attitude.
Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to everyone!
