From Nyack to the Arts of the City

Living in Rockland County in Tappan; formerly in Nyack and Congers. I have found the proximity to the city and its arts and cultural programs are an incredible resource. So I am going to continue to update my notes for you about the goings on only thirty short minutes away. It seems at the moment Guitars are all the rage! If you happen to head to the Met you get to see some of the greatest musical instruments ever created by master luthiers in the Exhibition Guitar Heroes – not to be confused with the video game at any costs. Some of the most magnificent instruments you will ever see. Particularly beautiful are the James D’Aquisto guitars. My goodness makes any player drool. If you have an iPhone download the app for the exhibition – wickedly cool! If you still have energy bop over the MoMA to see the Picasso Guitars exhibition. Picasso became obsessed with the form of the guitar and made it some of the central images associated with his new cubist forms. It became so essential as a form that he created works of art that were both associated with analytic cubist and synthetic cubist. So the show becomes a perfect exploration of all the possibilities the cubists had at their disposal. And make sure you look at the sculptural guitar! It is simply amazing… More to come! And remember from Rockland: Tappan to Suffern, Nyack to Stony Point even out into Warwick you can make it to the City to enjoy all it has to offer!
