Just because there is snow on the ground and the air can be frigid doesn't mean that you can't find fresh, local produce and unique items. Many of the area "farmer's markets" have moved indoors for the winter and they provide the chance to support local producers and artisans.
While there is less produce in the winter months, indoor markets offer a variety of other original and fresh items like: baked goods, honey, cheeses, artisanal specialties, and other yummy goodies.
There are a few indoor fresh markets in the county and these addresses are where you can find them during the winter months.
Clarkstown Farmers Market, Congers Community Center,6 Gilchrest Road, Congers. Saturdays 10AM to 2PM until mid-May
Nyack Farmers Market, Nyack Center, 58 Depew Street, Nyack. Thursdays 8AM to 2PM through April
Palisades Indoor Winter Farmers Market, Palisades Community Center, 675 Oak Tree Road, Palisades. Saturdays 9AM to 1PM through April
There are fresh markets in Westchester, too. The towns of Bedford, Chappaqua, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Mamaroneck, Ossining, Pleasantville, Scarsdale, and Yonkers all provide the opportunity to buy fresh food during the winter months.
Good shopping, fresh eating, and total yumminess!
