If you want to try something apart from the well-known smokehouse in Blauvelt, here are some new options to consider. 

Woody's Bar-B-Q is opening soon at 114 East Rte 59 in Nanuet. They will be offering Souther-style BBQ with a focus on the customer experience. To quote the new owner:  We "look forward to serving a high-quality meal at a great value, enhanced by a high level of customer service and a diverse offering for our customer experience." Definitely will have this one on the "must try" list!

Brookside Tavern & Smokehouse is at 107 Rte 303 in Valley Cottage (across from the Valley Cottage Library and where Pie Man and Pie Man's Cottage formerly did business.)  I haven't been there yet, but one of the "foodies" in the office gave it rave reviews.  

The place I did recently dine in is Southbound BBQ at 811 Chestnut Ridge Rd in Chestnut Ridge. Dinner there this past Saturday night was amazing. If you want to get a taste of the South, stop in (come hungry) at this Chestnut Ridge barbecue joint dishing up classics from the smoker like brisket, pulled pork and ribs alongside other faves like gator bites, catfish tenders, Cajun shrimp, and grits all paired with a long list of whiskies, bourbons, craft beers, or wine. The side dishes are wonderfully tasty and the staff is absolutely fabulous, too!
