I don't know about you, but the mere thought of being in a corn maze gives me an anxiety attack! But, for those who are interested, there are a couple mazes within an hour drive of Nyack. They are:
Farmers Step Up to Your Marks Please
Dated: December 1 2012
Don't worry, be happy! The Nyack Farmers' Market - going 15 plus years strong- due to a new partnership between the Nyack Center and the Nyack Chamber of Commerce will commence business for the Nyack's New Indoor Winter Farmers' Market at the Nyack Center (the beautiful big white church, corner of South Broadway and DePew). Throughout the winter season now upon us, we will all be able to reap the benefits of fresh, local food. There will be the usual line-up of the fabulous vendors we have come to know and love over the years and there will be new vendors as well: Hudson Valley Harvest, Gajeski Produce and Ronnybrook Farm products. Green Meadow Waldorf School and Green Mountain Energy are sponsors of both the Indoor and Outdoor Farmers' Market in Nyack. There will be free parking during market hours in the Artopee Way parking lot and I believe I saw a sign that said parking was free in the Riverspace parking lot throughout the Holiday season. Just wanted to let you know that the Chapin Sisters, (Piermont's own home grown) Abigal and Lily, did a fundraiser at the Green Meadow Waldorf School recently to raise funds for the Farm Alliance Project. They raised tons of moola and although I couldn't attend it, I heard that they were spectacular!
Starting on January 12,2013, the Piermont Farmers Market will re-locate for their winter market to the Palisades Community Center, 675 Oak Tree Road, Palisades, NY. I think their hours are 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, but you can go to www. Palisades Community Center. com for more information. There are wonderful vendors and wonderful pastries too!
The Suffern Farmers' Market has just ended their season and will be re-locating to the Community Center of Suffern, hosted by the Suffern Civic Association. Their hours are 10:00 am to 2:00 pm every other Saturday starting December 1, 2012. The Community Center is located behind the Gazebo across the street (Lafayette/Rt. 59) from the movie theater.
If you happen to come across any other Markets that I haven't mentioned, please let me know. I am always out and about when it comes to fresh food - hope you are too.
