Nyack's first pop culture convention kicks off today (Saturday April 1st) at the Nyack Center at 58 Depew Avenue (at the corner of South Broadway and Depew Ave).

There will be all kinds of fun exhibits, merchants, displays, and of course a cosplay contest.   What is Cosplay you ask?......I had to look it up myself....it's the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, video game, or graphic novel especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime.    I guess this is Nyack's version of the global phenomenon called ComicCon.

Come check out over 35 dealer tables selling records, comics, art, vintage clothing, jewelry, toys and more.  Also , there will be the Star Wars 501st legion and special guest comic icon Dennis O'Neil who is was a prolific comic book writer and editor for DC and Marvel Comics from the 1960's to the 90's and best known for his work on the Green Lantern, Batman, and The Shadow.

This is a great community event for Nyack and hopefully this will become an annual tradition.

The show is open from 10am-4pm.    Admission is free!
