Colonial Day in Historic Tappan

On Saturday, September 29, the Tappantown Historical Society will host its annual Colonial Day from noon to 5 PM.  The event will take place on the grounds of the Dewint House, the oldest home in Rockland County.  George Washington stayed there four times, which probably says something about the lady of the house's home cooking.  Or her good looks.  At any rate, there will be animals to pet, candles to make, soldiers drilling, a blacksmith smithing, cider pressing, and much more.  This is one of the nicest events in the area, and I'm proud to say that I started it many years ago.  The Dewint House is located in Tappan at the corner of Oak Tree Road and Livingston Street.  I'll see you there- I'm the soldier in the brown coat.
