Cleanup In Sparkill

Yesterday was Rockland County cleanup Day, and yours truly spent a rewarding morning in Sparkill, helping to clean up the Sparkill Creek watershed area.  This was done under the sponsorship of the Sparkill Creek Watershed Alliance and Christ Episcopal Church, where several dozen people of all ages gathered to help clean up the area.  Included in the group were the men and women soccer teams of Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, who did yeoman work.  Over sixty large bags of trash and recyclables were collected and stacked for collection by the Orangetown highway department.  Afterwards, we all met back at the church parish hall, where a large lunch awaited the volunteers, who swapped tales of what they ran into-  up to and including a large snapping turtle.
