Classic Car Show in Nyack a Success

The great thing about Nyack's Classic Car show that took place Thursday evening, was that you really didn't have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy the gorgeous works of art.  This rolling show of steel and glass Picassos pulled into the village for the first time in I don't know how long.  I know Pearl River has classic car Friday nights, and Bear Mountain has one on Wednesdays, but I can't remember if or when Nyack ever had one.

Young and old alike, there was something for everyone.  From the 1931-2 door Ford Coupe, to the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado... from the 1937 Buick Roadmaster, to the 1948 Olds Caddy designed by George Barris...he's the guy that designed legendary film and TV rides like the Batmobile, the Munster Coach, and the cars from the Beverly Hillbillies, Green Hornet, Monkees, and Knight Rider.

The show had vintage cars, muscle cars, weird and funky cars, and even some new fancy cars.

There was a clown making balloons for the kids, goody bags from The Black Bear Saloon (for adults of course), and friendly car owners schmoozing around with the folks.  Some car owners were walking around and admiring all the other vehicles, and some were just relaxing in their lounge chairs more than willing to talk about their prize posessions.  It was like a tail gate party slash street fair.  A great place to meet people, see friends, and check out some really cool vehicles.

And remember the DeLorean?  That stainless steel sports car from the early 80's and the classic film Back to the Future.  Well, guess what?  There was one there....and it actually had a Flux Capacitor inside.

Overall I would say that Nyack's (first?) Classic Car night was a great success.  It brought hundreds of people into the village and gave us all some wonderful, family friendly free entertainment.  A big Thank You to all the friendly car owners who shared their beautiful collections with us and were generous with their time and their toys.

I hope they do it again soon.

We had our Olds 442 there for this great show. It was alot of fun for everyone and drew a big crowd of all ages. We enjoyed chatting with many people and exchanging car inforamtion with all. As a resident of the Nyack area for 23 years, it was nice to see a big turnout in the center of Nyack and everyone enjoying the beautiful evening. Sure do hope the event is done annually!!
