There will be a CCSD Budget Workshop on Tuesday 4/5/11 at 7:30pm. The current location has been moved to South High School in West Nyack
to allow the public to observe the BOE, superintendent and her staff while they discuss next year's proposed budget. At the upcoming meeting, there will be a public comment period for any questions and input from community members.
ALL PTA members, voters, taxpayers, parents should make an attempt to attend. NOW is the time before the budget goes up for the public's vote. BE informed about what is going on. If you can't make it, you can get information on the CCSD website......email your BOE members and superintendent with your thoughts.
Dr. Keller-Cogan's proposed budget has an approximate tax increase of 2%. This may vary with either an increase or decrease depending on the final NYS budget.
In case you aren't aware, BOE President, advocated for a 4% increase at the last BOE meeting on 3/28. Let's not forget that at the 3/16 meeting, he allowed the budget presentation at about 10:30pm when 3/4 of the community in attendance had already gone home because it was so late. Most of those people only attended so they could hear the budget presentation in the first place. Many were angry that it had been taken off the agenda at the last minute, then thrown back in at 10:30pm. Why was that done, we wonder?
It is very important that all community members have access to the BOE members during the whole budget process. The BOE directs the superintendent and her staff to make changes/revisions to the proposed budget. Then the BOE adopts the final budget and puts it out to the community to vote. Don't complain when it's too late...get the facts and speak up now.
We cannot afford this budget to be voted down...it has to be right the first time. Every re-vote costs us about $15,000! Wouldn't you rather that $15,000 go into the schools, not another vote??
PLEASE make every effort to attend or email your BOE members.....our children depend on us and the BOE needs to hear what the public has to say!
