I don't know about you, but the mere thought of being in a corn maze gives me an anxiety attack! But, for those who are interested, there are a couple mazes within an hour drive of Nyack. They are:
Christmas in Nyack or in Illinois
Dated: December 17 2012
This is my current debate with myself. See, my family is scattered all across the United States and although we keep in touch by phone and email, it is always nice to get together from time to time. My Mother lives in Illinois, about a 15-hour drive from Nyack, where I live. I found out last night that the Colorado contingent is going to be in Illinois for Christmas. I've been contemplating the idea of making the trip, but haven't yet committed to it.
On the plus side: seeing most of my siblings and their kids/grandkids and my Mom.
On the minus side: I-80 through Pennsylvania during the winter (not fun), I-80 through the snow belt in Indiana & Ohio (potentially not fun), Gas, Tolls, and wear & tear on the car, the dogs, and myself (I'm not going away and leaving my dogs for the holiday). Also, the potential for nasty winter weather to make a 15 hour drive more like a 30 hour drive.
So, the debate continues. Nyack is lovely at Christmas - I have "adopted" family around here with whom I spend holidays. The dogs are happy and into their routine, and I don't have to face a long car ride. But the pull of spending Christmas with my family is very strong.
We will just have to see which side "wins" this one! I just have to make up my mind by the 21st (my own deadline.)
Regardless, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous, and very happy New Year!
