BIKING ALONG THE RIVER FROM PIERMONT TO CONGERS

One of the most scenic routes along the waterfront from Piermont to Congers is by way of biking. Following the route on a recent Sunday, there was much for us to see and do. Leaving from Piermont Pier, we traveled past the salt marsh on the Hudson River, and through the Main Street of Piermont, passing such restaurants as the Turning Point, Free Lance Cafe and Wine Bar, and Xavier's. While biking along the river to Nyack, we could hear laughter and enjoyment of families relaxing and having fun at Nyack Memorial Park. From the park, we ventured along Broadway through Upper Nyack to Nyack Beach/Hook Mountain Bikeway, which is also a very scenic route along the river. Upon arriving at the Y on the bike path, we decided to take the sharp Ascent up Hook Mountain, which was probably a mistake, for I ended up dragging my bike up the mountain to Rockland Lake. From this point, we decided to venture to the Par 3 Golf Course at the lake, and have lunch at their restaurant, which overlooks the course. Needless to say, we had to borrow a few golf clubs to complete our afternoon activity. What a way to spend a beautiful day!
