An Awww Moment In Tappan

Okay, so seeing deer in our area is no big deal.  Last week, I was running on the trail between Tappan and Sparkill, and a young buck stepped out of the reeds onto the trail, stood there for a few moments, and then stepped aside to let me pass.  He stood there on the grassy margin, and I passed within ten feet of him.  No fear.  Today, as I was entering my house, I glanced across the lawn, and there in the bushes was a mother deer and her spotted fawn. I'm not an expert on deer, but the little one appeared to be very wobbly on his feet, just like a newborn, and the mother stood there licking him.  I quietly went into the house and came back outside with my wife, two of my grandchildren, and a camera with a telephoto lens. After looking for a minute or two, the five year old decided that watching her cartoon show was more interesting, and she went back in.  The deer stuck around for a few minutes longer, and then they too decided that they had to go elsewhere.
