All This Snow In Nyack

I'm originally from the Midwest and snow never bothered me when I expected to have it start snowing for Halloween and to do so, intermittently, until April or so. Having lived in the Mid-Atlantic region and in Nyack for the past number of years, however, my expectations for snowfall have dropped precipitously (pun intended.)

Anyway, while listening to yet another weather report the other day, I heard the word "inclement" (stormy, rainy, windy, squally, foul, rough, bad, severe.)  That got me to thinking - is there such as word as "clement" and why doesn't anyone use it?  Looking it up, the word "clement" does exist - it means mild, balmy, pleasant, temperate, gentle, and soft. And I suppose it is easier to use those words than the more  awkward "clement," which, truth be told, most people wouldn't have a clue what it means (including myself until I did a little research.)
So, that about sums up the depth of my curiosity between episodes shoveling snow and sprinkling salt over the past week or so.  I hope that this warming trend continues and that our streets become their typical width again soon!
