From Nyack to the Holiday Train Show

The New York Botanical Garden’s Famous Holiday Train Show is a wonderful experience for kids of all ages, and only about 30 minutes on the Thruway, the TZ Bridge and down the Saw Mill. Paul Busse and his design team at Applied Imagination have collaborated with the Garden since the inception of the Holiday Train Show twenty years ago, and there are now more than 140 replicas of landmark buildings and bridges fashioned from natural materials (bark, acorns, leaves, etc.) Wonderful model trains and trolleys run through the meandering exhibit in the beautiful Enid Haupt Conservatory.I went to an evening show to take advantage of the effects of the holiday lights that add magic to charming scenes that include Rockefeller Center, The Chrysler Building, Radio City, the long-gone Pennsylvania Station, and fantastic overhead replicas of the city’s bridges. What a great trip!
