It’s that time of year again when all sorts of natures little pests decide to dine on your blood, bite a hole in your skin, or leave an itchy red rash behind. Mosquitoes, horse flies, gnats, no-see-ums, black flies, ticks, chiggers, wasps, hornets, poison ivy, poison oak, and the list goes on… It’s a wonder anybody goes outside at all. There are numerous itch relief products at the local Nyack drug store such as cortisone, Benadryl, and calamine. Here is a list of natural remedies that many of us have around the house. Hopefully one will work for you.

Fresh Basil leaves rubbed on the bite. I tried this recently with great results

Apple cider vinegar

Banana Peel

Oat Meal

Peppermint leaves

Aloe Vera

Meat Tenderizer-not something in my house, but supposed to work great if applied immediately to a bee bite

Montmorillonite Clay- maybe not so common, but good to know if you make potteryImage title
